The past years whole hog competitions in Europe had all kinds of different organisations. Behind the scenes bbq guru Harry Havinga has been working on a plan to make whole hog competitions better, such as certified judges and clear rules. In 2019 we will start with a new organisation "SCA whole hog Europe". They will provide a clear set of rules, ranking and trained judges. 

The competition will consists of two fields:

  • onsite judging

  • blind box judging

both will have a seperate winner, only blind box points will count for your ranking.

Yakitori competition rules

Yakitori competition Rules !!

May be cooked on any fire or heat source.
Must use provided turn in box and the lid must close.
You may decorate the turn in box with only edible garnish, but garnish is not part of the appearance score.
Turn in a minimum of SIX sticks of food for judging.
No dipping sauces allowed in the box.
Any clean stick is allowed; Skewer, Rosemary, Popsicle Stick, etc. as long as it fits in the box.
Food must be poultry such as chicken, duck, pigeon and quail etc and must be skewered on a stick.
Boxes will be judges from 1 to 10 points for appearence, taste and tenderness.
In case of a tie, there will be a coin toss.

You are allowed to bring your own meat. This has to be inspected on arrival or at the standard Meat inspection or meat will be distributed by the organization (free of charge).

Grand Champion will receive a full option Yakitori by StokesBBQ !!
